Description
A pair of Japanese Takasago dolls. Showa period, ca. 1950s to 1970s. The figures represent an elderly couple. Hand-painted porcelain bodies dressed in traditional jacquard fabric clothing, mounted on a wooden base, with tree and flowers scenery made of natural materials. Takasago dolls represent lasting love and longevity. The wife holds a broom to sweep away evil, and the husband holds a rake to rake in good fortune.
