ANCIENT EGYPT FINELY CARVED ALABASTER COSMETIC SPOON, Late Period (525-343 BC). A finely carved alabaster / calcite cosmetic spoon. The bowl portion of the spoon is cupped by a carved human hand on the underside. The handle has been rounded with a flattened end. The alabaster is a nice yellow hue with some soft cloudy white markings. Provenance: Acquired from a private collection in NYC, October 2008. Previus owner acquired the spoon from a Sotheby's July 2005 Antiquities auction that took place in New York City; Lot 133. Ex Ernest Cramer-Sarasin Collection Geneva Switzerland acquired in the last quarter of the 19th century. - Length: 5 inches.
