FABERGE - RUSSIAN GOLD LETTER OPENER, BOOKMARK with DIAMONDs and RUBY STONES, from SOTHEBY's
Antique late 19th-century Russian gold letter opener and bookmark by the House of Faberge. The bookmark features an openwork scrollwork design and is encrusted with a ruby stone and diamonds. HALLMARKS: '56' gold standard and makers mark 'ES' for Edward Wilhelm Schramm (1850-1899) - FABERGE workmaster in St. Petersburg.

Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago. HISTORY: Faberge workmaster. 'ES' for Schramm Edward Wilhelm, born in St. Petersburg in 1839 in the family of watchmaker Christian Schramm. The jeweler, goldsmith, had his own workshop, carried out orders from Faberge and other large jewelry houses. The master had a brand with the image of his initials 'ES'. Specialized in the production of small items made of gold, tokens, jewelry, golden cigarette cases.
