Description
A Burl Walnut Quarter Chiming Nine Tube Tall Case Clock, Model 250, Herschede Hall Clock Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, Third Quarter 20th Century. The arched brass dial with rolling moon phase having Arabic numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial to the cast gilt bronze center, Chime-Silent, and Canterbury/Westminster/Whittington dials, within foliate scroll filigree gilt spandrels, inscribed 'Hershede', the three train movement striking on nine chromed steel chimes, the backplate stamped 'A640172'.
Dimensions: Height 87 1/4in; width 25in; depth 14 1/2in.
Condition
The case is in overall good condition, typical marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Several of the threads that secure the chime hammers need to be replaced. Dust accumulation. The furthest right train has the wire not completely wrapped around the cog and partly wrapped around the axle of cog, will need to be readjusted. With three substantial brass clad weights, pendulum, winding crank and case key. The suspension spring to the pendulum and threads holding the bob secure are broken. We cannot guarantee the completeness and functionality of the clock's movement.
