Description
Esther Williams Two Costume Sketches Designed by Irene and Drawn by Paula Giokaris. MGM, 1944. Designed by Irene. Drawn by Paula Giokaris. Gouache and pencil on illustration paper, one with 'For Esther Williams - Designed by Irene – MGM - 1944' and one with 'For Esther Williams – MGM - 1944' to the bottom in pencil. The first sketch is a white dress worn by Williams in the film, Thrill of a Romance, in which she costarred with Van Johnson. The Western wear sketch is likely from the film, Easy to Wed, in which she again appeared with Johnson. Both films were released in 1944 and both allowed Williams ample time to show off her swimming skills in one musical extravaganza after another. Exhibiting expected age and handling. With two corresponding stills from each film. 12.5 x 19 in. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
