Neolithic Sickle Blade found in the Rivne Region of Ukraine 4500 BC - 1700 BC. Blade 1 of a 3 Blade Cache. This blade like the other two is an exceptional piece of neolithic workmanship that was likely used for cutting wheat. It exhibits excellent use wear and very good true patination. The material it is made of is Polish Flint which is from the chalcedony family. This blade was examined under magnification by Ryan Keele. He concluded with prejudice that it is indeed a 100% ancient piece from its patination, use wear and general fading of the material which happens only from time. Needless to say this is a museum grade artifact. The closest artifact that we see locally here in Missouri made by native americans are the Lamine River Blades which were also used for cutting vegetation. They are very rarely as long as the shortest of blades from this cache.
