17TH-CENTURY CARVED ITALIAN COFFER: A heavily carved Italian coffer trunk with hinged lid. Having dentil molding at the lid's lower edge over a body decorated with a floral & scrolled foliate motif flanking a heraldic shield. Hand-forged iron strapwork hinges inside. Resting on four large paw feet. Approx. 22.5" h x 61.5" w x 19.25" d.

Condition

Wear commensurate with age and use including a rich patina, scuffs, scratches, evidence of prior woodworm, and marker inside lid. Loss of claw detail at back left foot.
