Description
Estate / Collection: Collection of Robert Israel

ARBUS, DIANE (1923–1971)

Photograph of twelve photographs by Arbus arranged on a sheet of black card. The image includes eight images taken at a sitting with her friend Marvin Israel, 1960s and two variants of another known Arbus image. Gelatin silver print, 11 x 14 inches (280 x 355 mm), unsigned, unstamped. Edges of sheet creased, with damage to the emulsion, small indentation (not breaking the emulsion) at upper left, verso a trifle dust-soiled.

Possibly taken by Arbus (it is difficult to conjecture who else might have had access to the photographs in order to take this rather artful image, which resembles a contact sheet in its form). By descent in the Israel family.
