A Dutch engraved flask with silver mounts, late 17th centuryOf typical globular form applied with eight pronounced vertical pincered rigaree ribs, the resulting panels alternately engraved in diamond-point, four with a bird perched amongst oversized flowers and four with fruiting vine, with a small basal 'kick-up', with later silver mounts, the screw cap fitted with a suspension loop and engraved with the initials 'HH * GA', 19cm highFootnotes:ProvenanceAnton and Anneke Engels-de Lange CollectionSimilar flasks are illustrated by Anna-Elisabeth Theuerkauff-Liederwald, Venezianisches Glas der Veste Coburg (1994), pp.464-5, nos.549-52, where she states that the shape is typical of the Netherlands in the late 17th century.This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ** VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
