Description
Ancient Egypt, Ptolemaic Period, ca. 332 to 30 BCE. An elegant pottery spindle jar featuring a classic form of an ovoid body, a slender, towering neck, and a folded rim, all sitting upon a petite, flared base. Vessels like this one would have been used to hold scented oils and perfumes. Size: 1.6" W x 3.7" H (4.1 cm x 9.4 cm)

Chipping to base, as well as some small nicks and abrasions to surface as shown. Otherwise, intact and excellent with light earthen deposits. Old collection number inscribed on underside of foot.
