Author:
Title: San Francisco 1915: A pamphlet published by Wells Fargo & Company for its patrons who do not wish to be hampered with a guide book, but desire some brief general information to help them in their way about San Francisco
Place Published: [San Francisco?]
Publisher:Wells, Fargo & Co.
Date Published: 1915
Description: 44 pp. With 2 color lithographed maps, on both sides of single folding sheet. 15.3x9 cm (6x3½“), original wrappers. Second Edition.Rare tourist pamphlet published the year of the Panama Pacific International Exposition, with much on what to do and where to go in the San Francisco Bay Area. The color maps are of the City, and also a plan of the grounds of the P.P.I.E. The maps are by the Poole Bros., Chicago. The map sheet measures 25.5x30.5 cm (10x12“). OCLC lists four copies, but we have determined only two are extant, those at the California Historical Society and the University of California, Berkeley. The listings do not mention the map, and are for the second edition, as the present copy. Rocq 12767 adds the copy at the San Francisco Public Library, and does call for a map. There is no mention of an edition statement in the Rocq listing, but otherwise the description is the same. This copy with pencil notes of an early owner on inside of front wrapper, referring to a trip or trips around San Francisco, ending “Came home in a jitney.“
