Description
Between 1876 and 1976, the innovations in Cleveland architecture rivalled those of any city in America. Cleveland's progressiveness and vision were recognized nationally at least through the first third of the twentieth century. Its Group Plan created the first civic center. Its Union Terminal, as large and complex as Rockefeller Center, was finished a decade earlier. Cleveland produced the first modern building code and the industrial research park, and the suburban idea found its most spectacular realization in Cleveland's Shaker Heights. These and other topics are covered in this heavily illustrated book. Signed by author in bold script on ffep. Written by Eric Johannesen and published 1979 by Western Reserve Historical Society (first edition). Tiny bit of sunning at top edge. Book is sound and clean. Jacket has considerable chipping at top edges and spine, and several smaller ones at bottom rear and spine. 8.75 x 11.25 268 pp
