Description
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A wonderful leaded bronze censer cast after the Archaic ding form with 3 zoomorphic feet and upward-swooping, geometric handles. The lid is crowned by a qilin - a mythical hooved chimerical creature that appears in Chinese legends - while the hexagonal body features relief decoration of phoenixes. Size: 5.1" W x 5.9" H (13 cm x 15 cm)
Provenance: private Sylmar, California, USA collection, acquired in 2022 by descent, originally acquired in the Korean War

Condition
One handle is missing inside bolt making it loose. Otherwise, intact and excellent with rich patina and heavy encrustations on interior from use.
