An Italian second quarter 19th century pietra dura and specimen marble top set in a near contemporary William IV rosewood tripod table

The circular top inlaid with an idiosyncratic version of Pliny's doves comprising a pair of birds drinking from a twin handled urn with a butterfly flying nearby, encompassed by two radiating segmented bands of various specimens, each band comprised of sixteen segments, within a repeating stylised foliate border, on a lotus-leaf wrapped and ring turned baluster column, terminating in acanthus hipped and twin C-scroll carved legs with brass castors, approximate diameter of the whole top: 59cm; approximate diameter of the marble top: 51cm; 73cm high approximately.
