The exceptionally animated sculptural copper weathervane by J. W. Fiske - prominent American manufacturer of cast iron ornaments, furniture, weathervanes and architectural elements - was marketed as being a depiction of St. Julien, 'King of the Trotters', handled by his celebrated trainer and driver Orrin A. Hikok. The beautifully well-modeled body in copper is wide and full and formed in detail with nice proportions. The head is cast zinc. Before St. Julien and Hikok became a team, the gelding worked pulling a milk wagon in Orange County, New Jersey. He made his first start in 1876 at age seven and set a trotting record on his way to becoming champion.

UPDATE: TWO POTENTIAL REPAIRS TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HORSE: FRONT SHOULDER BACK UPPER THIGH. Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage, repair, dents, bullet holes, tears or repairs. The whip, reigns and seams are intact, noting there may be a bit of separation of the tail which trails behind under the driver's right arm.
