A pair of George III Rococo style giltwood mirrors, 20th century
Provenance
Of asymmetrical form, the giltwood frames finely carved with c-scrolls, foliate motifs, rockwork, and flowering branches and garlands, both with two phoenixes perched on either side of a latticework basket.

Bequest of Helen S. Fennessy in memory of her stepfather, Horace Trumbauer, 1974 (accession no. 1974-161-3 and 4)
Sold on behalf of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit future acquisitions.
Condition
lot 49: overall in nice condition, showing expected signs of patina, crackling, and minor loss to gilding and gesso commensurate with age; a few repaired breaks to tendrils or tips of pieces; one mirror with loss to giltwood element to top; the other mirror has mirror plate with some flecking of oxidation commensurate with age
