Andrew Jackson Davis was a self-proclaimed clairvoyant who believed in diagnosing illnesses using his unique ability. He operated under the self-given title, “the Poughkeepsie Seer”. Into adulthood he insisted that he was uneducated and that it was through clairvoyant inspiration that he would receive the contents of the approximately 30 works he would have published during his lifetime.
