Description
1824 ANDREW JACKSON President Army General Indians Creek War of 1812 RARE
“The Life of Andrew Jackson, Major-General in the Service of the United States” by John Henry Eaton is a comprehensive chronicle of the southern wars (i.e., the War of 1812), specifically detailing the leadership of Andrew Jackson from the Creek Campaign to the cessation of conflicts in New Orleans. The narrative aims to correct misconceptions of the period and offer an account drawing on first-hand sources and direct interactions with Jackson. Notably, while a portion of this book was initiated by Major John Reid, an eyewitness to many events, his untimely death led to Eaton completing it, driven by the desire to aid Reids children and to present an accurate account of Jacksons pivotal role in U.S. history. Notably, beyond being a historian, Eaton was an American politician, the youngest U.S. Senator in American history. Additionally, he would later serve as the U.S. Secretary of War under Jackson.
