A Sèvres plate, dated 1781
Painted by François-Marie Barrat (oncle), with scattered flower sprays in the well, the rim with a border of pansies within gilt beaded ovals under a gilt beaded border with floral garlands and ribbon bows, 24.3cm diam., interlaced LL monogram enclosing date letter dd and painter's mark FB in blue, gilder's mark for Weydinger

Probably from the service purchased by the Marchese Spinola, Minister Plenipotentiary of Genoa to France, on 30 August 1781
The service with the decoration described as guirlandes et fleurs included 120 plates at a price of 21 livres each. See David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services (2005, revised edition 2015), vol. III, no. 81-8, for a full listing of the service. Peters also lists a slightly earlier service purchased in January 1781 (Peters, ibid., no. 81-1), which may have had the same type of decoration and included 36 plates at the same price.
