A Page from the Newport Mercury [newspaper] that includes a Runaway Fugitive Slave Ad [in the bottom right corner of the front page]. Vol. LXII, Number 3201, Saturday 16 August 1823.
Full newspaper copy features an ad about a runaway indentured Negro boy, age 13, named James Sisas. Offering a Ten Cents Reward for any information leading to his return. Indenture remained a practice in Northern states in North America in the time. A scarce item of Afro Americana. In very good condition after 200 years.
