Description
This map of the southwestern United States holds significant importance. Notably, the Utah territory extends to encompass the entirety of present-day Nevada and features a distinct eastern boundary with Colorado. The map showcases a few large horizontal counties in the region. Similarly, New Mexico is depicted with expansive horizontal counties and includes Arizona. While Arizona is still taking shape and labeled in very faint printing, it marks the first mention of the state on this map. The map also highlights Spanish trails, native areas, early settlements, and proposed rail links, making it a treasure trove of fascinating details. Created by J. H. Colton & G. W. Colton, this hand-colored, steel-engraved map is part of the "General Atlas" published in New York in 1859. Measuring 17 1/2 x 14 1/2", the map is in overall very good condition. Authenticity Guaranteed.
