American dignitaries in China extensive ephemera lot, early 20th century. To include: 2 full scrapbooks from members of the family of an employee of the American Consulate stationed in Foochow (Fuzhou) China. The albums include photographs, handbills and other pieces of ephemera related to schools and diplomatic events and other events for the family in China, letters, newspaper articles, passenger ship brochures, postcards, as well as some other ephemera from their travels elsewhere. Together with family genealogy books and a book on Chinese Life and Customs by Paul Carus. Also includes an original steamer trunk for the family marked with initials and "American Consulate / Foochow China". Largest album: 13.5 x 10in. Trunk measures: 19 x 22 x 17in. Album covers and pages in various worn conditions.
