An exquisite and rare set of (6) side chairs in the Chippendale style, with ornate pierced fretwork stretchers. 19th Century, possibly late 18th. Upholstered in fine later 19th Century needlepoint and petit point tapestry with velvet backs. Dimensions: H 39.5" x W 20.5" x D 24.5" x SH 18.5" Condition: Repairs to at least two stretchers; one apparently rebuilt. Possible repairs to several legs. True antique patina throughout, including old dings, small chips, gouges, and finish losses to wood. A few areas of minor worming. Discoloration and spots of soiling to upholstery; minor balding to velvet pile on chair backs.
