Description
A WEDGWOOD BLACK AND WHITE JASPERWARE CACHEPOT, MUSES WITH GARLAND, ENGLISH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, a black ground is overlaid with white bisque porcelain, the slightly rolled mouth is encircled by a flower blossom garland, over a slightly tapered drum form body with lions masks hung with rings issuing grape bunch and leaves on vine garland interspersed by classical female muses in ancient robes, each holding their emblematic attributes, the foot impressed, "Wedgwood," with other impressed marks. Height: 9 1/2" Diameter: 10 1/2" Provenance: Estate of Robert William Guynn, Houston, Texas.
Condition
The Interior is heavily soiled from being used as a planter, with apparent stains, wear, debris, surface scratches, small spots and stains, and apparent wear throughout. The white appliqué decoration has expected firing/shrinkage cracks throughout.
