Description

ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY POSTER BEDSTEAD WITH CANOPY TOP, the front posts featuring carved leaf capitols with drapery and husk pendants, above tall tapered reeded columns and carved acanthus-leaf baluster-form supports, the simple ring-turned rear posts supporting the headboard, joined by the original side and end rails secured with threaded bolts hidden by brass covers. Fitted with a later canopy frame. Retains an excellent old surface. Circa 1780. Approximately 104" HOA, 100 1/2" H posts, about 85" x 65 1/2" OA, 78" x 58 1/2" inside the rails.
