Description

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with medium high collar, and applied horizontal loop handles. Stamped tri-lobed drape decoration repeated three times to each side, additional cobalt brushed to stamp design and handle terminals. Early 19th century. 9" H, 6 1/8" D rim.

Provenance:

From the estate of Michael Wayne Cassidy of Hanover County and Alexandria, VA.

Condition

Mostly undamaged, having a shallow rim chip and some staining from use. Manufacturing flaws including slightly compressed kiln kisses to each side, as made.
