English Flintlock Fowler, Ketland & Company, London, England, late 18th century. 46 3/4 in., .66 caliber, with front sight, top of breech marked 'LONDON' within an engraved flat, the left side with Tower-style private proof marks; unbridled flat lock plate with engraved line border faintly marked below the pan 'KETLAND/&Co'; walnut stock; brass furniture including a butt plate with stepped and foliate scroll engraved tang, trigger guard with engraved leaf finial, thumb piece, engraved openwork foliate side plate; two sheet brass rammer pipes and a sheet brass entry pipe, with wood rammer. Overall lg. 62 1/2 in. CONDITION: Barrel and lock toned to dark brown, barrel is shortened; lock has replaced top jaw and jaw screw, steel is refaced, lock functions properly; stock has a repaired break at the second rammer pipe and several wood fill repairs along the barrel channel; furniture is toned to deep yellow.
