A rare, first printing of Henry Stanleys In Darkest Africa. Known for his explorations in Africa, he found the Scottish missionary explorer David Livingstone, whom most had assumed had been lost. His acquaintance with continuing expedition with Livingstone led to the expedition for the relief of Emin Pasha, an Ottoman physician. This voyage was notorious for causing the deaths of so many of its members to disease and disaster. The events of this expedition were recorded in Stanleys In Darkest Africa in which he was the leader of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition.
