Description
1890 In Darkest Africa Henry Stanley Emin Pasha Expedition Livingstone MAPS
“If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don't want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all.”
― David Livingstone
A rare edition of Henry Stanley’s ‘In Darkest Africa.’ Known for his explorations in Africa, he found the Scottish missionary explorer David Livingstone, whom most had assumed had been lost. His acquaintance with continuing expedition with Livingstone led to the expedition for the relief of Emin Pasha, an Ottoman physician. This voyage was notorious for causing the deaths of so many of its members to disease and disaster. The events of this expedition were recorded in Stanley’s ‘In Darkest Africa’ in which he was the leader of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition.
