Description
(1847-1934) German general and politician, crushed the Russians at Tannenburg and in Poland, forced to yield the Chancellor's office to Hitler in 1933. Typed D.S. 1p. legal folio, Neudeck, Aug. 17, 1933, in which von Hindenburg appoints Reich Court consul Dr. Schultze as a ‘judicial member’ of the Reich Disciplinary Court in Leipzig. Signed with von Hindenburg’s characteristic oversize signature, with slight bleeding thereon. Countersigned by FRANZ GURTNER (1881 -1941) German Minister of Justice in Hitler's cabinet. Detesting the cruel ways of the Gestapo and SA in dealing with prisoners of war, he protested unsuccessfully to Hitler. Eventually found himself providing legal grounds for a host of criminal acts. Very good condition.
