Description
This edition of the map diagrammatic style of Underground map designed by H C Beck has been altered to show a slightly expanded central area with more space between the District and Central line. This has changed the size and angle of the escalator link between Bank and Monument. The name for Aldgate Station is shown outside rather than inside tha Metropolitan line and the District line to Ealing Broadway no longer crosses above the Central line. On the reverse of the map are lists of places of interest and theatres. The map includes the "Middle Circle", an underground train line using the West London Railway between Latimer Road and Earls Court, passing through Uxbridge Road and Addison Road. The line closed in 1940 following bomb damage. It was not reopened until 2008 as part of the Overground network.
