CHARCOT JEAN-MARTIN: (1825-1893) French neurologist who worked on hypnosis and hysteria and is considered ‘the founder of modern neurology’. A.L.S., J M Charcot, two pages, 8vo, Boulevard St-Germain (Paris), 15th November 1889, to a friend and colleague, in French. Charcot informs his correspondent that the case of Madame Nelidour is not at all serious, remarking ‘c'est de la neuropathie pure, sous une forme plutot favorable. Je crois qu'elle suis avec quelque courage et entrain le traitement hydratherapique que je lui ai prescrit et j'espere qu'elle s'en trouvera bien’ (Translation: ‘It is pure neuropathy, in a rather favourable form. I believe that she is following the hydrotherapeutic treatment that I prescribed for her with some courage and enthusiasm, and I hope that she will do well’). With blank integral leaf. About EX
