Bound by Zaehsdort in full blue morrocco with gilt decorations and text on the covers. Spine has five raised bands with compartments stamped in gilt. Lavish inner gilt dentelles over gilt paper. Top edge gilt.
Historical novel set during the Mercenary Revolt (241-237 BCE) in Carthage. Incredibly popular at the time of its publication, and Flaubert's next novel following the controversy of Madame Bovary.
