Original First Edition, First Printing. 'In the American West' accompanies the exhibition held at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1985. The project was initiated seven years prior when the museum commissioned Avedon to capture the lives of everyday people in the Western United States. Over a span of five years, from 1979 to 1984, Avedon undertook numerous journeys through the region, resulting in a comprehensive body of work that featured over 800 subjects, ultimately culminating in the selection of around 120 portraits for the final exhibition.This substantial folio volume is bound in its original tan cloth, adorned with mounted photographic portraits on both covers, and distinguished by black lettering on the boards and spine. The original acetate/mylar dust jacket is intact and was removed for some of the photos seen. Throughout the book, readers will find a striking collection of monochrome illustrations, showcasing Avedon's masterful lens.This copy is in excellent condition, both the book and the dust jacket being in fine, well-preserved states."

Excellent condition with only minor imperfections. Original mylar book jacket dented in areas but present. Small smudge on bottom of back cover. Please review photos closely for further condition.
