Viene raffigurata la tradizionale battaglia dei pugni che si svolgeva ogni anno sul ponte di San Barnaba a Venezia tra le fazioni dei Castellani, per lo più lavoratori dell’Arsenale, e dei Nicolotti, per lo più pescatori.In alto il titolo: “La Guera tra Nicolotti e Castellani, che si fa in Venetia in memoria de Triestini, che / ruborno le Novizze in Castello mentre si sposavano tutte in un giorno destinato e si / fa in tal memoria e si dimandava la batalgiola e quelle seguitate de Venetiani / repilgiate le Donzelle furono fatti tributari lanno 932.”

Very rare popular print engraved in copper from a design by Andrea Piazza. The traditional battle of fists that took place every year on the San Barnaba bridge in Venice between the factions of the Castellani, mostly workers of the Arsenale, and the Nicolotti, mostly fishermen, is depicted.At the top the title: “La Guera tra Nicolotti e Castellani, che si fa in Venetia in memoria de Triestini, che / ruborno le Novizze in Castello mentre si sposavano tutte in un giorno destinato e si / fa in tal memoria e si dimandava la batalgiola e quelle seguitate de Venetiani / repilgiate le Donzelle furono fatti tributari lanno 932.” [The War between Nicolotti and Castellani, which is fought in Venetia in memory of Triestini, who / stole the Novices in the Castle while they were all getting married on a designated day and is / done in this memory and the batalgiola was asked for and those followed by the Venetians / having rejected the Donzelle were made tributaries in the year 932]
