Description
Vincent Svoboda (American, 1877-1961). An original mixed media painting on paper. Watercolor and other elements. An illustrated figural work produced circa 1903 as a magazine illustration, depicting a female figure at the beach, seated on a pier pylon, painted in the style of the popular contemporaneous Gibson Girl motif. Artist signature and dated to lower right V.A. SVOBODA 1903. The artist was the editorial cartoonist for the Brooklyn Eagle newspaper (fl. circa 1841 to 1955). Presented under glass with a cream mat border in a gilded faux bamboo wood frame.
Dimensions: 22 X 16 X .5 in.
Condition: Good overall condition having mild age related surface wear and toning. Frame with mild to moderate wear to edges and corners. Estate fresh to the market.
