Description
Sixth plate daguerreotype of an older gentleman holding eyeglasses. Housed in full pressed paper case with floral motif. An excellent image in very fine condition and wonderful clarity. The gentleman stares directly at the camera while seated at a table. One arm rests upon the table and a pair of eye glasses are held in his hand, suggesting he is a man of letters.
Sixth plate daguerreotype of a young woman holding a book. Buffalo, New York: McDowell & Co. Housed in full pressed paper case with foliate motifs. Photographer's Buffalo imprint embossed on purple velvet pad.
Sixth plate pressed paper and leatherette case with floral motif (no image). With ink inscription to interior dated 17 August 1853.
Condition: minor tarnish to man's portrait. Woman's portrait with some spotting and tarnish to rim; case split.
