Description
A card promoting the American Rubber Co. measuring 6 1/4" x 3 1/2". We believe this is from 1898 based on the small calendar on the wall behind the woman who is putting on her "American" Rubbers over her shoes. The card reads "A Hint to Women. Health and beauty go together; So make health your chiefest care, And, in wet and stormy weather, "American" Rubbers always wear." The back of the card asks the reader "Why go to Doctors - When Rubbers are so Cheap?" and the dubious claim that "A fifth-cent pair of rubbers would have saved many a fifty-dollar doctor's fee. Wear rubbers and save your health."
Condition
Some edge wear and minor chips at corners and left side. Printed on card stock. Please review scans closely for further condition and please let us know if you have any questions prior to bidding.
