Two scalloped edge plates, both unmarked; the smaller with central fruit/plant surrounded by flowerpots and vining berry motif (8 1/2in diam.); the larger with alternating panels of pattern (8 1/2in diam.). Condition: Both over all good; tiny/shallow rim chip on larger. FROM THE FAMILY OF REV. CHARLES HARTWELL (1825-1905) and Lucy Estabrook Stearns Hartwell (1827-1883); their children Charles Stearns Hartwell (1855-1931), Emily Susan Hartwell (1859-1951), and Carrie Amelia Hartwell Tupper (1864-1959); Congregational missionaries and philanthropists in Foochow (Fuzhou), China, 1850s-1930s.
