In this work A.V. Boesen presents us with a rural landscape with a tenuous and calm atmosphere. The painter manages to convey with naturalism the solitary and bucolic atmosphere of the place. It is a naturalistic landscape, attentive to color, marked by a dynamic and subtle brushstroke.
AV. Boesen studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, but soon left to become a landscape painter. After exhibiting from 1836, he received the Academy's traveling scholarship in 1845-47 and remained mainly in Italy. The Royal Painting Collection has a youthful work from Norway and two of his Italian paintings.
