Chinese Turquoise Glaze Porcelain Foo Dog. Size 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 6". A pair of turquoise lion dogs with typical attached stands made for export in the Qing dynasty in the late 1800's.Chinese guardian lions, known as stone lions or Imperial lions, and often called "Foo Dogs" or "Dogs of Fo" in the West, are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China. They have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits. SHIPS FROM LA, CA.
