Original Elmer Bischoff (1916-1991) gouache pen ink, and charcoal original of a light-skinned black woman with red hair – Ada "Bricktop" Smith (1894-1984). Ada Beatrice Queen Victoria Louise Virginia Smith, better known as Bricktop, was an American dancer, jazz singer, vaudevillian, and self-described saloon-keeper who owned the famous nightclub "Chez Bricktop" in Paris from 1924 to 1961, as well as clubs in Mexico City and Rome. Bricktop was discovered by Cole Porter in 1932. The piece measures 13 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The framed dimensions are 20 3/4 by 17 inches.
