1850's letters from Captain Charles A Ranlett Sr. to his sons Seth and Alonzo Ranlett, discussing possible trips to Canton, letters written from Shanghai, keeping up on their examinations, etc, sold with a Chinese document, wrapped in a paper with Ranlett family note stating it was the last pass given to pass the Bocca Tigres Forts, which guarded Canton during the Battle of the Bogue in November of 1856 during the 2nd Opium War)
