Featured in this sale are early China Trade antiques and ephemera descending from Captain Charles Augustus Ranlett (Maine 1804-1878) to his son Captain Charles A Ranlett (Billerica, MA 1836-1874) both captains of the fast clipper ship ?Surprise?, making runs from Shanghai and Hong Kong to NY and London in record time as early as 1855), to Seth Alonzo Ranlett, to Col. Charles A. Ranlett (1874-1961), to Evelyn Ranlett Hutcheson (1906-1979), to the estate of Robert McMenamin of Newburyport, MA. Also of note are several items descending in the family of J P Morgan Jr, including fine tableware from his yacht bearing his monogram. Also featured are antiques sold to benefit Sterling College in Craftsbury, VT, as well as a spectacular Vanderbilt/ Webb window from 680 Fifth Ave sold to benefit Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, VT, and Period American Furniture and Accessories from an inveterate St. Johnsbury, VT collector.
