A staple of Bruno Mathsson's iconic Scandinavian midcentury design canon, the seeds of the "Mina" armchair were sewn in the late 1930s during Mathsson's flourish of inspiration to create a trio of chairs: the easy chair, the lounge chair, and the work chair. Seeking to develop a chair frame of curved laminated wood, Mathsson tweaked his vision of aesthetic and construction to finally create the "Mina" work armchair in 1978 when stronger glue allowed for his design to come to life. The most utilitarian of Mathsson's trio, the "Mina" armchair combines functionality and style with a blonde beech bentwood frame, true to Mathsson's original concept, and plaited webbing for a comfortable, sturdy back and seat sling that supports the body. A testament to Mathsson's eye for timeless design, the "Mina" armchair has been continually reproduced since its mid-20th century inception. This particular pair is an early 21st century model.
