German Bavarian Silver Observer's Badge: Named and regimentally marked on the back as 'LT. D. R. FINCH BEOBACHTER FLG. ABT. 295'. This beautiful badge boasts multi-piece construction with two vent holes, intricate details, and an enamel shield on the front. In total, only 600 Bavarian Silver Observer's Badges were produced, and named examples are exceedingly rare.
HALLMARKS: Marked "CARL POELLATH SCHROBRNHAUSEN SILBER", stamped on the back.

HISTORY: The Observer's Badge (or Beobachterabzeichen in German) is a badge from the Kingdom of Prussia awarded to qualified Imperial German Observers during WWI. Silver qualification badges were approved by the German Air Service shortly before the start of the First World War. Most wartime crews wore the Prussian designs, with minor changes to the badges worn by Bavarians. There were also variations in quality, particularly between issued versions and those purchased privately.
