A contemporary Diné (Navajo) Shiprock pictorial weaving Sadie Ross, (Diné [Navajo], b. 1937) Circa 1990s, depicting the Masks of the Warrior Twins, woven in commercial yarns. 28 1/2 x 35 1/2 in. Footnotes: The design of the masks is from a poster accompanying Berard Haile's 1947 book, Head and Face Masks in Navajo Ceremonialism. In the 1960s, Russell Foutz commissioned Sadie Ross to weave copies of the masks; in the 1990s, she wove a second set of the Haile masks.
