Attributed to Bartholomeus Molenaer (Dutch, circa 1618-1650) The Wedding Feast unsigned oil on panel 60.0 x 84.9 cm (23 5/8 x 33 7/16 in). framed 78.0 x 103.0 x 7.75 cm (30 5/8 x 40 1/2 x 3 in). Footnotes: Provenance Purchased by family of the current owner in Belgium sometime in the 1920s; by descent to current owner. N.B. This picture likely depicts a wedding feast. The bride is crowned and sits at the table against a dark cloth hanging from the wall. The motif of a crowned bride appears elsewhere in pictures of peasant weddings from the Netherlands from the 16th and 17th centuries. This picture has been examined via digital images by the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD).
