Item Details

Description

Pair of Chinese miniature blue and white dragon stem cups from the Hatcher Cargo, circa 1643, each decorated with a writhing dragon pursuing a pearl of wisdom, retaining stickers from the 1984 Christie's sale.

Note: The Hatcher Cargo was recovered from a sunken Chinese junk near the port of Jakarta by Captain Michael Hatcher in 1983. The 25,000 piece collection, was sold at Christie's, Amsterdam, 12-13 June 1984.

Approximate dimensions: Larger h. 2", dia. 1.75".

Condition

Minor roughness around rims, accretions, one having a 1/16" chip under the foot, not distracting.
