Portfolio with complete text and 32 illustrations, 31 with pochoir coloring, 1920. 263x197 mm; 10x7¾ inches (sheets), full margins, loose as issued. One of 250 numbered copies. Numbered 174 on the justification page. Published by Éditions Paul Rosenberg, Paris, each sheet with the blind stamp lower right. Original green mottled paste board portfolio folder. Picasso (1881-1973) was involved with Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes from 1917 to 1924, and his designs for the ballet Le Tricorne are considered his most successful. During his work on the set and costume designs, Picasso met Olga Khokhlova, the Russian ballerina who he would eventually marry in 1918. Picasso's maquettes chosen for Le Tricorne were published by Paul Rosenberg as color pochoirs in the current portfolio. Rosenberg helped Picasso and Khokhlova settle on rue de la Boétie in Paris, where Rosenberg's office was located and became the artist's agent from 1918 to 1940. Cramer Books 8.
